We build your website first. You look at it. Then you decide.

People check you online before they ring you. If there is nothing there, or it looks like it was made in 2011, they call the next name on the list. We fix that without a meeting: we build the site, send you the link, and you pay only if you want to keep it.

A real website LocalSiteHero built for Backhouse Plumbing & Gas in Auckland

An actual site we built, for a plumbing firm in Auckland. It is still live, so you can poke around it yourself: open the demo.

Six real ones. All live right now.

Each of these was built before we had spoken to the owner, exactly the way yours would be. Open them, load them on your phone, press the buttons.

Heads up: the review counts and star ratings on these are placeholder figures our builder inserts. That is the honest state of a demo before an owner signs off, and it is the first thing we take out. More on that below.

Step one

We build it

We put together a working site from your business name, your trade and your service area, taken off your public listings. There is no form for you to fill in.

Step two

You see it live

We email you the link. Nothing to sign, nothing to pay. Open it on your phone and read it the way a customer would.

Step three

You decide

Want it? Send your photos and any corrections, pay once, and it goes live on your own domain. Don't want it? Delete the email. That is the whole exit.

Straight talk about the demo we send you

We build it before we have ever spoken, off what is publicly listed about your business. So parts of it are stand-ins, and we would rather say that up front than have you catch it.

What is real in your demo

  • Your business name, trade and service area
  • Your phone number, as a tap-to-call link
  • Your services, read off your listings
  • A quote form that actually works
  • Fast, and properly laid out on a phone

What is a stand-in until you say go

  • The photos are professional stock images, not your jobs
  • Any review counts, ratings or years-in-business figures
  • Wording we guessed at and may have got wrong
  • It sits on our demo address, not your domain
TL

We are not going to hand a tradesman a website that makes claims about his own business he cannot stand behind.

Any numbers on your demo, a star rating or a customer count, were put there by our builder as filler. They are not your real figures and we do not expect you to publish them.

Before your site goes live we take every one of them out, or swap in whatever you can actually back up. Same with the photos.

What we don't do

We build the site and hand it over. We are not an agency on retainer. If the list on the right is what you are after, we are the wrong people, and we would rather say so than take your money.

Cutting all of it out is the reason this costs $497 instead of several thousand.

  • Run your Google Ads
  • Write monthly blog posts
  • Ongoing SEO campaigns
  • Manage your social media
  • Answer your phone or chase your leads
  • Charge you a monthly retainer

Why it's $497 and not $4,000

Fair question, and the answer is boring rather than clever. Here is what the same site costs by the usual routes.

RouteOngoingUp front
Do it yourself on Wix or Squarespace$17–$50 a month, forever40–80 hrs of your evenings
Freelance web designerHosting, usually on you$1,500–$8,000
Local web design agency$100–$300 a month$3,000–$10,000
LocalSiteHeroNothing to us, ever$497 once

Ranges taken from published 2026 US pricing guides (Digital Agency Marketing, Elementor). Your own quotes may differ.

So what's the catch

There isn't one, but there is a reason, and you are right to ask.

  • We build the first version before we have spoken to you, so there is no discovery call, no proposal and no project manager to pay for.
  • We only spend real time on the sites people actually want to keep. The rest cost us almost nothing.
  • It is a handful of pages that make the phone ring, not a fifteen-page rebuild of your brand.
  • We are not trying to sign you to a retainer afterwards, so the build does not have to be priced as a loss leader.

One payment, then it's yours

Trades we build for: plumbing, roofing, electrical, HVAC, tree services and arborists, landscaping, painting, fencing, and most other local service work.

Countries we build in: the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Hosting a site this size costs a few dollars a year at most, and we will show you where to do it. We don't resell it to you.

After you pay

  1. You send your job photos and any corrections.
  2. We put them in and strip out every placeholder figure.
  3. It goes live on your domain, usually the next day.
  4. You own the files. Nothing further is owed to us.

Questions

Do I have to get on a call?

No, and there is no call at the end either. We build the site, email you the link, and you reply by email with what you want changed. Phone us if you prefer, but nothing requires it.

Are the photos on my demo actually mine?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. They are professional stock photos of work like yours, because we build the site before we have spoken to you. Send us photos of your own jobs and they go in before launch. If you have none, we can leave the stock ones or strip the gallery out.

My demo says I have hundreds of reviews. I don't.

That is filler our builder adds, and you are right to flag it. Those numbers come out before anything goes live. If you want figures on there, they have to be ones you can actually back up.

Why is it only $497? What's the catch?

We build the first version before we have ever spoken, so there is no sales call, no proposal and no project manager in the price. We only put real hours into the sites people decide to keep, and we are not trying to lock you into a monthly retainer afterwards. That is genuinely the whole answer. The comparison above shows what the other routes cost.

I already have a website.

Then you are the easiest person to help, because you can put the two side by side and judge for yourself. We will build the replacement, send it over, and if yours is better you have lost nothing but the two minutes it took to look.

Will it show up on Google?

It is built to be found: real page titles, your trade and town in the headings, proper structure, and it loads fast, which Google does care about. What we are not going to promise is a ranking. Anyone who guarantees you position one for a fixed fee is selling you something they cannot control.

How new is LocalSiteHero?

New. We are not going to invent testimonials or a client count to look bigger than we are, which would be a strange thing to do on this particular page. That is the reason the site gets built first and paid for second: you judge the work, not the pitch.

What if I don't like it?

Don't pay. You see it live before money changes hands. If you have paid and change your mind inside 14 days, you get all of it back, no questions.

Do I own the site and the domain?

Yes. Your domain, your content, your files, no ongoing fees to us. If you want to move it to someone else later, nothing stops you.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. $497 once and that is the end of it. No subscription, no hosting bill from us, no maintenance contract.

How long does it take?

The demo normally lands in your inbox within a day. Once you approve it and send your photos, going live is usually another day.
